Sugar
Filed under: Health News;No CommentsA question that some of us have wondered about but never thought to look into is ‘How much sugar is in a can of soda”. After looking it up through google I ventured to follow a link on YouTube which from Science on the Brain deducted that by boiling down a can of coke he was left with about 37 grams of syrupy juice we call sugar. On the can itself it’s lists the amount of sugar at 39 grams which is about 7 1/2 teaspoons in every 12 ounce can. I don’t think any of us could eat 7 teaspoons of the stuff but we can certainly fool ourselves when it’s consumed in a liquid form. One of the recent scenes from “The Biggest Loser” showed the contestants the amount of sugar they would consume on average from one year of their average soda drinking. They poured raw white sugar out of what looks like a 45 gallon drum into a wheel barrow. The contestants eyes were bulging with the shock at how much they poor into their bodies from a year of drinking it. We don’t think that one little can can hurt and most likely not but if the one little can becomes a daily “habit” then things begin to add up. Can this affect our health in the long run, You tell me.
Water or Coke?
