Most of people desire a slimmer or healthier body but they don’t have the vision of one.  Most of the time it’s wishful or someday thinking but no real commitment.  We all have started out with good intentions and somewhere along the line those intentions go south with a few bad habits or a few weekends that we let our discipline slip and we pack it in.  Many folks truly want to be healthier and try their best only to hit sticking points which knocks them back and perhaps for good. What will truly drive you beyond those obstacles is a clear vision of what and who you want to be. Without that it is just wishful thinking because without a vision your driving in the dark. That visions drives you to do some amazing things and will bring the necessary ingredients to help you towards your goal.  So I say again What’s your vision of you?

One of the simple rules of dieting is basic math so the calories you eat must equal the calories you burn. If you eat more then you gain and if you eat less you lose weight . This is easier said than done as it would take some time to go through your fridge and freezer and look at what you have in stock or make a few changes in your grocery shopping.  Now I realize it’s very tough to ditch the usual pop and chips for fresh broccoli so maybe make some small changes so it’s not such a shock to your system. We don’t want to give you a heart attack when you look in the snack cupboard and see space just when your tummy is growling.  But seriously if you start to examine your foods and make some  changes and look at your activity you can develope a plan for long term success. If we want to commit then we need to take a long term sensible approach and be prepared to put some thought into it. If it was easy then I wouldn’t be writing this snippet.

(NaturalNews) A high-fat diet quickly causes changes to the body’s internal clock, which can throw off appetite regulation, according to a new study conducted by researchers at Northwestern University and Evanston Northwestern Healthcare in Illinois. Published in the journal Cell Metabolism, the study was funded by the National Institutes of Health and by grants from Amylin Pharmaceuticals and Eli Lilly and Co.

“The effect can be seen quite rapidly - within a matter of days,” lead researcher Joe Bass said.

Researchers conducted the study on two separate groups of mice that were kept in total darkness. Both groups were fed a normal diet for two weeks. Then one group continued with the normal diet, while the other mice were placed on a high-fat diet in which 45 percent of their calories came from fat.

The mice were kept in darkness to prevent light levels and other external cues from being able to act as regulators on their internal clocks.

Known as a circadian clock, the body’s internal time regulator is responsible for sending out time-related signals such as hunger, sleepiness and wakefulness. Prior studies have indicated that a poorly regulated circadian clock is associated with an increased risk of obesity and diabetes.

The researchers found that mice on the high-fat diet began to eat and rest at inappropriate times relative to the mice in the control group. These changes took place after only two weeks. These changes appeared to be related to modifications in the expression of the genes   that regulate the circadian clock.

“What we found was the expression of the genes that encode the clock is altered under high-fat diets,” Bass said. “It is as if the diet erodes away the clock or causes it to rust. It erodes the abundance of the proteins in the cells.”

“If you give a mouse a high-fat diet, they will eat excessive amounts,” he said. “It is the same thing as human eating at McDonald’s or eating too much at a Thanksgiving dinner.”

Even though vitamins are generally good for you, and you might have no cause to think that there may be dangers associated with using too much vitamin supplement or too many vitamins, there are certain dangers that might come along with using too much in general. If you are going to be responsible and truly understand what you are putting in your body, you should know that indeed too many vitamins and supplements might actually cause you problems. However, it is important to know how much you should be using at any given time. Dangerous results are real.

For instance, if you have too much vitamin D in your system, you might be causing yourself kidney damage. Vitamin D is generally good for you, so it is simply a matter of knowing your limits and knowing how much you should take. Don’t think that just because the supplement bottle says to take one a day that you will be better off or increase the results you want by taking more than that. That is simply not true – you will actually be causing yourself harm if you take more than you are supposed to be taking. Vitamin A commonly has the same results. Liver damage is very series and can cause many other problems, resulting in death.

If you are taking regular doses of niacin, you should know that you might experience flushing and stinging of the skin. This is natural, and a side effect that can be managed. However, if you take too much niacin, you might be causing heart and liver problems for yourself. Once again, it’s simply an issue of only taking the recommended amount.

Mineral supplements can be dangerous too. Even if you are just increasing some of your mineral intact by a modest amount, you might be finding that this is leading to imbalances in your body’s ability to use other types of minerals. If you take more than just 5 times the recommended doses of supplements such as iron, chromium, zinc or selenium, it can actually be a toxic event for your body. Almost every kind of vitamin and mineral can end up being toxic if you take too much.

Therefore, you should know that while vitamins and supplements are generally good for you, there are many times that these could actually become harmful, especially if you take more than is recommended to take during the day. For those reasons, you should simply be careful to only take what is recommended each day, and not more.

There are many different aspects of the food that we eat that help to protect us. Our body can take the food that we eat and turn it into energy. However, our body cannot produce several things that we need in order to survive. In order to do the things that our cells need to do to be healthy and to get by in life, our body has to receive several types of vitamins and minerals. Our body does not make these vitamins and minerals; they are instead gleaned from the food that we eat. There are many ways to get vitamins and minerals from food, so a balanced and healthy diet is always recommended. If you are eating foods from all of the food groups in a balanced manner, you are going to find that you are getting the correct vitamins and minerals. This means that your cells are going to be able to do the work that they need to do to make your body function correctly

Your body relies on you to eat the right foods, making it possible to stay healthy. If you do not think you are getting enough of a certain kind of nutrient, you should consider supplements to help you achieve those normal levels. Vitamins are one part of your diet that you should be careful not to overlook. Among the thirteen vitamins needs in your body, vitamin E is one of them, and you should be aware of what it does in your body. Simply put, understand our own health is important because if you do not understand it we cannot make sure we are staying healthy.

Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin, along with a few other vitamins, including vitamin K. Because it is fat-soluble, it does not exit the body completely and in high levels, but instead can be stored for later use and made in the body as well. This is very important, because it means that we do not have to eat foods rich in vitamin E every single day. However, it is still important to get enough vitamin E, whether it be through foods or vitamin supplements.

The main function of vitamin E is to be an antioxidant. Antioxidants are simple guardians of the body. They help your tissue sustain damage cause by free radicals, which are unstable substances in the body. Tissues make up our organs, so antioxidants are very important to keep all parts of out body health. They are also thought to help slow the degenerative aging process. Another important function of vitamin E specifically is its role helping the body use vitamin K, which helps your blood clot.

Whether you get your vitamins through the food that you eat, or through supplements, there is no joke that they are very good for you, and in fact they are essential for you to stay healthy. One of the main jobs that vitamins and minerals do for you is the prevention of disease. When you have the correct vitamins and minerals, your cells are going to be able to break them down and use them in many different ways. The best way that they can use the vitamins and minerals is to use them to strengthen themselves and to put up barriers against disease. The barriers that are built with the correct vitamins and minerals are going to allow you to not get sick as often and to not be as prone to disease.

If you truly want to be healthy, you should make sure that you have a balanced diet that includes the vitamins and minerals that are needed to make your body strong and healthy. This will increase your immune system, helping to prevent all kinds of illnesses.

Hundreds of people worried about a controversial bill that could pose restrictions on natural health products rallied in Edmonton yesterday to send a message to the federal government.

Bill C-51 was put before parliament last month and calls for greater regulation of natural health products like herbal supplements and vitamins. If the bill is passed, companies would be forced to prove their products are safe. Some fear that would restrict access to natural products and treat them more like pharmaceuticals.

“I’m really concerned that it reduces our freedom of choice,” said noted Edmonton photographer Con Boland, who was diagnosed with HIV in 1992 and has been using natural remedies ever since.

Boland, who has rejected Western medicine for years, told CTV Edmonton that doctors told him he only had two years to live when he was diagnosed. Now he worries that the herbal products that he believes have saved his life might be pulled off store shelves.

“Why should I be forced (to give up) something that I have studied myself, that enhances my health?” said Boland. “I passed my doctors’ prognosis by 12 years and I’ve actually saved the medical establishment over $1 million in toxic pharmaceuticals.”
Supporters of the bill like Athabasca University nutrition professor Dr. Norman Temple said people are confused about its purpose.

He suggested Bill C-51 would provide a safety net for consumers by imposing regulations on herbal supplements and getting rid of rogue products that make bogus claims.

New regulations would force companies to get their supplements approved and many say they will be driven out of the industry because they can’t afford clinical trials.

(NaturalNews) Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients who eat a gluten-free vegan diet could be better protected against heart attacks and stroke. RA is a major risk factor for these cardiovascular diseases, but a gluten-free vegan diet was shown to lower cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and oxidized LDL (OxLDL), as well as raise the levels of natural antibodies against the damaging compounds in the body that cause symptoms of the chronic inflammatory disease rheumatoid arthritis, such as phosphorylcholine.

The idea that we can influence our health by changing our eating habits has become a fashionable idea among lifestyle and consumer magazines. There is evidence that dietary changes can bring about health benefits but specific results are not widespread.

Now, Johan Frostegard of the Rheumatology Unit at the Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm and colleagues divided sixty-six RA patients randomly into two groups. They randomly assigned 38 of the volunteers to eat a gluten-free vegan diet, and the other 28 a well-balanced but non-vegan diet for one year. They analyzed the levels of fatty, lipid molecules in blood samples using routine analytical methods at regular periods. They also measured oxLDL and anti-phosphorylcholine (antiPC) factor at the beginning of the experiment, at 3 months and again at 12 months.

The researchers found that the gluten-free vegan diet not only reduced LDL and oxLDL levels and raised antiPC antibodies but lowered the body-mass index (BMI) of the volunteers in that group. Levels of other fatty molecules, including triglycerides and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) stayed the same. In contrast, none of the indicators differed significantly for the control groups on the conventional healthy diet.

AntiPC antibodies are studied within CVDIMMUNE, a European consortium led by Dr. Frostegard with the hypothesis that such antibodies can protect against cardiovascular disease and can be used as diagnostic and therapeutic factors.

Frostegard and colleagues have now shown that diet could be used to improve the long-term health of people with rheumatoid arthritis. They concede that a bigger study group will be needed to discern which particular aspects of the diet help the most.

Natural Health experts have thought for years that gluten and dairy may actually be the underlying cause of RA and other forms of arthritis, and have routinely recommended a gluten and dairy free diet along with anti-inflammatory supplements like yucca root, devil’s claw, Boswellia and turmeric along with essential fatty acids and vitamins.
