1, It’s too much of a change in their food choices. They suddenly are required to eat food groups that perhaps should be everyday but many people have not been exposed to them for reasons we can’t go into here.
2. People tend to gravitate towards the next big thing in hope of some miracle weight change but the truth is loosing weight takes time and sacrifice and thats something we have not been educated on.
3. We don’t have a proper plan going into the diet arena so when we hit an obstacle we tend to go back to old habits.
4. You suddenly realize that if you lose all this weight your wardrobe won’t fit and it’s too costly to replace.
5. You’ve never been this hungry in your life and if you don’t eat something soon your stomach will collapse. Most fad diets don’t teach you how to overcome the hungry mindset so all you can think about it food.
6. They said you could lose this much in 8 weeks but you didn’t see the fine print that says how little you get to eat and how often you would have to exercise. You’ve never worked out in your life and they expect what!!!!!!!
7. You cant’ believe a simple program to help you lose weight could be so expensive and they expect you to buy it every month, you have to out of your mind.
8. There is no safety net to rely on when the going gets tough so you try and go it alone but often it’s too much stress.
9. All of you friends have tried the latest diet, weightloss, exercise, fad diet, etc. and it didn’t work for them so why should it work for you. Who do you think you are????
10. After a few days you begin to wonder why you tried this diet in the first place, maybe it was the sales pitch.

Do What it takes to lose weight
Filed under: Healthy Outlook; No CommentsYou look into the mirror and say it’s time to make some changes or perhaps you have thought about this decision for a long time and have been putting it off. You need to lose some weight and are going to try a diet or join a fitness club and take some steps to drop a few pounds or a lot depending on your condition. What happens is we try this, or we start that, or we join this club or whatever but we don’t really know how much we are willing to sacrifice. If it appears to difficult or the strain is too great then we have the option of backing out. We can always go right back to the way we were and just be the same, heavier and out of shape with no options. Yet we read success stories of how someone persevered over great obstacles to reach their goal and admire their commitment and think how lucky they are to be that story. They became this awesome story yet we don’t believe that we could be that story or someone they could use for an example. The sad part is that when it gets tough we tend to back away and let our old habits take over. So why can someone else be the story of success and we cannot, maybe it’s because they were willing to do whatever it takes and they were going to reach their target whether it be losing weight or some financial goal and they were going to keep at it until they succeeded. My what concept, do whatever it takes even if it takes the rest of your life. We don’t try to lose weight, we begin to lose weight and learn any and everything it takes to commit to that goal no matter what. After all it is your Life.

A guide to the nutritional tips and approaches of the many diets that people are using. This is a way to decipher some of the overwhelming information that is available to the diet consumer. If your a newbie to this be prepared to spend some time reading all that’s there for you. If you choose to take the time to read and learn it may also prevent you from jumping on one bandwagon after another. You could decide what you are willing to do on order to achieve your weight loss goals and what you are not willing to do. In many cases when we reach sticking points so it is easy to go back to old habits and then give up after a few failures. Sometimes you have to fail in order to learn how to win and many times winning is more of a perseverance thing than anything else. I believe that dieting is more along that nature because you either decide to stick it out or you end up jumping from one plan to another.

OMG Which One do You Choose
Filed under: Healthy Outlook; No CommentsAfter doing a very quick search on Google by typing in one word “diet” one becomes overwhelmed by the choices. This presents many problems since being overweight is a complex issue of food, emotions and outlook. If people are just jumping from one diet to another with the hope of taking control of their life with no real research then they most likely will continue the same pattern. I’m not sure that even the medical profession can keep up with all the new programs that come out. One thing is for sure is we are a nation of food and drink consumers and I will bet that the amount of calories and grams of fat we take in are far higher than is was 40 years ago. Look at how much coffee we consume, just go into the any Tim Horton’s and watch all the double, double or triple, triple ones that are passed over the counter. That alone is a pile of sugar and cream and we continue to consume. So then we decide to look for a diet that could help us and we begin to do some searches where after typing in the word “diet” 29,300,000 results are listed. I would say that if we lived to be 300 years old we couldn’t look at all the stuff listed so yes being overwhelmed is in order. Perhaps looking at what we want from a weight loss program could be a start since losing weight is a term that can imply many different meanings.
Does it mean?
Eating Healthier
Sleeping Better
Drinking Less
Exercising more
Making informed food choices
Making lifestyle changes
Making social changes
Changing daily patterns
Going out less
Perhaps we need to ask ourselves the right questions and start by “what do we want from this program” and how long is it going to take me and what am I willing to do in order to accomplish this endeavour”. When we can answer those questions honestly then we can narrow down our choices of diets programs and select a few to research. If you continue to jump from one to another with the faint hope of success then the only thing that will get slimmer is your wallet. There is no easy solution to losing weight and no 15 minute a day program is going to get you to that destination.
Take some time to look at what you are willing to do.

A Pen for Writing Goals & More
Filed under: Healthy Outlook; No CommentsWhen you want to begin any program or diet perhaps it would be prudent to take a pen or pencil and write down what you want from this endeavour. We like to begin with the faintest of hope like this could be what I’m looking for or maybe this one will work for me. But have you really decided to commit or are you pretending. See if we don’t write anything down or tell anyone then nobody will know if we quit and like I said if we don’t write anything down then I’m not bound to it either. Why not look at it another way and instead of pretending to do something like diet or exercise, why not commit by putting down on paper some GOALS and things we want. There is power in the pen as they say and by making it legible we push it into our subconscious which is where great things begin to happen. The greatest goal achiever in the world John Goddard has accomplished 550 major goals by writing them down and visualizing them to make them happen. The same thing might work for you if you give it time. The key word again is time and this is where we short change the system. We don’t write things down and we don’t give things enough time to work out for us. Another system that has come out recently about weight loss is that if you carry and pen and paper and write down everything you eat or drink a day then you begin to think about your choices about what and where you are eating. This makes sense since we do things by habit and I’ve always maintained the someone who is heavy does not realize how much or of what kinds of foods they eat as long as it taste good. I have seen many people at work who by first break downing a large chocolate milk and some sweats and also seen a coke and butter tart for breakfast. Same in Disney World where the young children are into the pop by breakfast. They don’t even realize what or how much sugar that is being consumed. So is a pen or pencil valuable for this case, I would think priceless because at the end of a day or week you would be shocked at the food consumption and cost and to put down in ink some goals for yourself might be just what the doctor ordered.

Time
Filed under: Healthy Outlook; No CommentsI believe that someone did a survey and found that the average diet lasts 72 hours. Holy cow, was it the wrong diet for you or did somebody tell you it wasn’t worth it or did you tell that to yourself. I think it’s a pretty scary number to think we can only try to lose weight for 3 days and then pack it in. We’re not sure if the population is aware of how short of a time frame we can hold out for by trying to make some better choices. Perhaps it because there are so many fad diets and people are going from one to another with the slim hope that maybe this is the one, yes I’ve finally found the one for me, or is because we don’t have the proper mental mind set to go about losing weight and we are purely dealing with the physical side of weight loss and haven’t given any thought as to what it really means to stick to a new plan. Lets see according to research it takes 30 to 60 days just to begin and they mean begin to learn a new habit and how we eat etc. is definitely a life long habit and the average diet lasts 72 hours so are we even giving ourselves a chance. I am not poking fun at anyone who has tried but just trying to make a point that we need to spend sometime time preparing how to go about losing weight and most of all we need to give ourselves a chance to succeed. It’s a long old road and the has to be a plan in place not just a credit card purchase and hope to make this journey but most of all we need to believe in ourselves.

A picture can help
Filed under: Healthy Outlook; No CommentsIt may help motivate you if there was a picture of you at your B.F time period. B.F. meaning before kids, before marriage etc., etc. Often we have points in our lives where we just let go and the weight starts to creep on and then one day we seem to notice that out of nowhere our waist lines grew and other parts as well. Perhaps when you take that step to lose some of this excess it may help to have a picture of yourself when you were lighter. The picture will alway look younger and that can be depressing but if it’s a reasonable one to inspire or help you focus on what your target is then put it somewhere that’s highly visible. This is a journey with lots of ups and downs and losing weight is a very emotional issue as well as physical so any little thing that can help move you in the right direction you can be a bonus.

Target Weight Loss
Filed under: Healthy Outlook; No CommentsWe tend to look at the visual weight loss goals of our plan and by doing so we let the bathroom scales dictate our success and failures in this journey. Depending on how hard we are working out if at all we may be replacing body fat with muscle so the scales may not tell us the truth as we are looking for it. Another way to look at weight loss is by inches or really how our clothes feel. If our pants etc. are starting to feel loose then perhaps we are being successful after all. I like to say we must have a long term outlook and it takes time to learn new habits and we are creatures of habit. Remember you have spent many years developing the eating habits you have so why do you think you can change them in a matter of a few days. Yes of course you are going to fall off your diet sometimes, guess what your human. We must learn to forgive ourselves for our little failures and celebrate our achievements instead, we are simply too critical.
